Via Gothamist:
Titus Andronicus frontman, Patrick Stickles, has put together a last minute benefit show tonight at Brooklyn’s Shea Stadium (20 Meadow Street, Brooklyn), which will benefit the National Lawyers Guild — those who are currently fighting for the rights of Occupy Wall Street protesters. The lineup features Ted Leo, the So So Glos, and of course Titus Andronicus.
In a post announcing the show, Stickles wrote: “BECAUSE we are now at war. BECAUSE our dear Mother Earth herself screams out for justice. BECAUSE our beautiful Declaration of Independence and our sacred Constitution have been dragged through the dirt by those sworn to protect them. BECAUSE we can no longer depend upon the authorities to defend our basic human rights. BECAUSE they worship a god of greed who feeds the rich while poor people starve. BECAUSE the most devastating blow to the cause of freedom and liberty in New York City since September 11 has been dealt from within. . .” and so on. He also explains why they chose the smaller, DIY venue in Brooklyn, when the bill could fill a much larger space, saying.
