(Politico) — Here are the highlights from White House press secretary Jay Carney’s gaggle with reporters onboard Air Force One en route to Asheville, N.C., on Monday:

• On the president’s three-day bus tour through North Carolina and Virginia, Carney said Obama was “excited” about getting the chance to “get out into smaller communities that are hard to get access to normally and to meet with Americans.”
• On the Occupy Wall Street protest, the spokesman said Obama has already shown “an understanding of the frustration that the demonstrations manifest and represent,” adding, “We do not believe that there is a broad consensus among the American public that we need to roll back Wall Street reforms.”
