(National Journal) — President Obama is more interested in watching the pitching duel between Doug Fister and Colby Lewis at Comerica Park in Detroit on Tuesday night than in watching the eight GOP candidates duke it out at Dartmouth College.

Obama will watch Game 3 of the American League Championship Series as the Texas Rangers take on the Detroit Tigers instead of the latest Republican debate in Hanover, N.H., White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Tuesday. Earnest said he expects the president will read news coverage of the debate.

“In terms of my own expectations I don’t expect we’re going to hear any ideas to create jobs and strengthen our economy right away,” Earnest said.

Obama is in Pittsburgh Tuesday, meeting with an electricians trade union before heading to Orlando, Fla., for a pair of fundraisers.
