(ThinkProgress) — White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley told Slate’s Dave Weigel today that the ongoing 99 percent movement protests on Wall Street are not helpful to the administration’s push for its American Jobs Act. “I don’t know if it’s helpful,” he said. “I wouldn’t characterize it that way. . . I know the focus is on Wall Street, but it’s a broader discussion that we’re having.” Prior to joining the administration, Daley worked for mega-bank JP Morgan Chase. Just two days ago, when White House Press Secretary Jay Carney was asked about the protests, he replied, “to the extent that people are frustrated with the economic situation, we understand.”
