(The Hill) — Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) on Wednesday morning suggested that country singer Hank Williams Jr. should stick to writing songs rather than dabbling in politics and suggested that writing some new hit songs might be in order.

“Mr. Williams, you might stick to the penning of a new hit that you haven’t had for a long period of time,” Jackson Lee said on the House floor.

Williams did not clarify whether he was comparing Obama or Boehner to Hitler, and later indicated that he was simply trying to show the contrast between the two leaders.

Jackson Lee also took another shot at GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain for saying that blacks are “brainwashed” into supporting Democrats.

“I guess he suggests we’re not educated persons,” she said, following remarks she made Monday about Cain.
