(Daily Mail) — Iran will meet out eye for an eye justice when it blinds a waiter who hurled acid at a man five years ago, it was revealed today.
The Islamic Republic’s supreme court sanctioned the punishment after the victim asked for revenge.
The 26-year-old waiter, identified by his first name, Mohammad, had confessed to the attack.
His victim, named Vali, was injured and blinded in one eye. Vali then asked for ‘qesas’ — an eye for an eye style of justice — and that Mohammad be blinded.
The Islamic sharia code in force in Iran provides for retributive justice, most commonly for murder or for those convicted of causing intentional physical injury.
