One of the most outspoken House Democrats on Thursday compared the Senate to the Politburo of the Soviet Union.
Rep. Anthony Weiner (N.Y.) made the comparison while discussing what the upper chamber can accomplish during the rest of the lame-duck session.
“But, you know, trying to predict what’s going to happen in the Senate is like trying to predict what’s going to happen in the 1970s Politburo,” he said during an interview on C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal” program. “I have no idea. That’s a whole other beast over there.”
Animosity between House Democrats and the Senate has spiked ever since President Obama brokered a tax-cut compromise with Senate Republicans.
