And Bush was pro-amnesty.

(Boston Herald) — Calling him “worse than George W. Bush,” Latino activists threatening to abandon President Obama’s 2012 re-election bid delivered petitions to Democratic Party headquarters in Boston and five other cities yesterday, warning their crucial political support is fading fast.

“He’s making moves that will ultimately alienate Latino voters and possibly lose him the election,” said Roberto Lovato, founder of “On immigration, this president is a Republican.” Lovato said Obama’s support of the Secure Communities program, which requires police to run suspects’ fingerprints through an immigration database, has resulted in a record-high 1 million deportations since he took office.

About a dozen protesters gathered at Massachusetts Democratic Party headquarters in Boston, where organizers took their gripes to party chairman John Walsh.

Party spokesman Kevin Franck said: “We’re happy to put Gov. Patrick and President Obama’s policies on immigration next to any Republican’s any day of the week.”
