Reagan reported to be rolling over in his grave.
(USA Today) — In urging Republicans to raise the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling, President Obama and Democrats are pulling out a political weapon from the past.
The House Democratic Caucus is now distributing a video that replays a 1987 radio address by the conservative icon, warning against the problems that would flow from a government default.
The Gipper cites potential problems with government bonds, Social Security, veterans benefits and interest rates in urging the Congress of that time to raise the debt ceiling. Reagan says the U.S. has a “special responsibility — to itself and the world — to meet its obligations.”
“That’s an adult moment,” says the Democratic ad.
