(RCP) — “The American people expect everybody here in Washington to behave in the interest of the American people, the folks who sent us here.

“And if we’re taking positions that are based on what special interest groups want. What lobbyists on Capitol Hill want instead of the voters who sent us here, then we shouldn’t be here. We should be doing something else. And that’s why I’ve consistently said that’s why I’m willing to compromise. I’m willing to put things on the table that I — are important to the Democrats. I’m willing to take on our sacred cows.

“But what we haven’t seen is any willingness on the part of some Congressional leaders to budge an inch on positions, that by the way, the vast majority of the America people don’t agree with.”
