(The Hill) — The chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Tuesday accused her Republican counterpart of “reckless rhetoric” with respect to the debt ceiling.
“GOP Chairman Reince Priebus’s comment that defaulting on our obligations ‘is not the end of the world’ is irresponsible,” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) tweeted.
Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus commented on the debt-ceiling talks Monday on ABC’s “Topline.”
“I never said it would be the end of the world if we were under a debt-ceiling budget,” Priebus said. “I think we have enough revenues to pay our soldiers and we have enough revenues to pay our seniors and we have enough revenue to cover the debt payments that we owe for our bonds.”
