(Washington Examiner) — President Obama finally weighed in on the scandal surrounding Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) after several more images of the congressman in various states of dress — some taken in the Congressional gym — were released over the weekend.
According to White House spokesman Jay Carney, Obama is said to believe Weiner is a “distraction” but has not directly called for the congressman’s resignation.
Weiner admitted to sending lewd pictures over the internet to several women during his June 6 press conference. By June 8, an uncensored image of the congressman’s genitals was leaked to the world. Following the latest photos and the investigation into conversations the congressman had with a 17-year-old Delaware girl, Weiner has taken a leave of absence from Congress to seek treatment.
