Via Daily Wire:
Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) slammed far-left New York Times writer Wajahat Ali on Tuesday after Ali mocked the notion that Republicans like Crenshaw were “patriots” and falsely claimed that Crenshaw did not support the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund.
Ali made his vile comments in response to comedian Jon Stewart slamming members of Congress on Tuesday over their failure “to ensure that a victims’ compensation fund set up after the 9/11 attacks won’t run out of money — and for skipping a hearing devoted to that very crisis,” Fox News reported.
Crenshaw leveled him with his response, noting not only was he a co-sponsor now, but that he obviously gave far more than Ilhan Omar ever has in the fight for this country.
Hey “journalist,” maybe you should check your facts. I am a co-sponsor. Nice try though.
Also, “patriotism”: https://t.co/3jSAFc5prw pic.twitter.com/1GURun1cr4

Then Ali followed it up, with a non-apology apology.
Thanks for letting me know. I'm glad you did and I have no problem correcting and updating the record with facts. Now try it with your comments about Ilhan Omar. You'll feel better. Sincerely, a fellow patriot. https://t.co/6bAsYBpxsY

I deleted this b/c Dan Crenshaw supported the Fund in May after being a holdout. Apologies to him for the tweet. I have no problem admitting it & correcting the record with facts. For those trying to "own" me, especially as you still promote "alternative facts," enjoy Tuesday. pic.twitter.com/njJ9fcNKZK

Not being a sponsor doesn’t mean you aren’t supporting it or being a “holdout.” You can’t be a holdout for a vote that hasn’t happened. It just means you didn’t sponsor it. But this was the lie Omar pushed and this NYT writer picked up to defend her and attack Crenshaw.
And in any event, he should have known that Crenshaw has given far more for this country than Omar ever has, literally giving his eye to defend the country to defeat the 9/11 terrorists. Meanwhile Omar downplayed 9/11.
