787 7th ave, #midtown NYC. We’re 1 block south. 20 mins ago there was a loud sound like a too-low #helicopter & I looked up and saw sheet of flame on roof and then smoke. News reports saying helicopter/small plane crash onto roof which would be consistent with what I heard/saw. pic.twitter.com/swY3ksLskH

Via Daily Mail:
A pilot has died after a helicopter crash landed into a building in Midtown Manhattan, NYPD officials confirmed.
Emergency crews responded to the incident at 787 Seventh Ave just before 2pm Monday as thick rain blanketed the area.
Smoke was seen billowing from the top of the 54-story building as police ordered the evacuation of several structures in the area as a precaution.
The New York Fire Department tweeted that firefighters have extinguished a fire that was raging on top of the building as ‘members continue to operate in response to fuel leaking from the helicopter’.
