Via Virginian-Pilot:
CBS News will air interviews with Vanessa Tyson and Meredith Watson — who have alleged that Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax assaulted them years ago — early this week.
“I think the Virginia people, the voters of Virginia, have a right to know both my story and Meredith’s story,” said Tyson, an associate professor of political science at Scripps College in California, to CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King in a clip of the interview released Sunday. “I think there should be a public hearing.”
Tyson alleged in February that Fairfax assaulted her in 2004 when both were working at the Democratic National Convention in Boston. Watson came forward after Tyson and accused the lieutenant governor of raping her in 2000 when both were studying at Duke University.
Fairfax has strongly denied both allegations and, amid calls for his resignation, said he would remain in office. In a lengthy statement released Sunday morning, Fairfax said he took two polygraphs, according to CNN.
