Mar-A-Lago is usually the only thing that would catch your eye out in the inter-coastal in West Palm Beach.
Saturday, people noticed something else.
Claude Taylor, chairman of Mad Dog PAC is behind a float depicting President Donald Trump as a rat, sailing from a boat; he calls it the Trump Rat Boat. He says he drives it all around Washington D.C. and wanted the opportunity to put it in the waters of West Palm Beach.
“This is a political protest,” Taylor said. “We’re taking a shot at Trump.”
It caught the attention of several along Mar-A-Lago, including supporters of the president, like Donald Tarca.
“We came out to show support for out president,” Tarca said. “We figured if he’s gonna fight for us, we’ll fight for him.”
Along with a crew of counter protesters, Tarca held up flags near to make their voices heard. He says the message from the one-man demonstration is clear.
“To spend so much time and energy on hate,” he said. “I would hate to have to wake up every morning with so much hate in my heart for somebody.”
