President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania attended a worship services on Christmas Eve.
The first couple arrived at Washington National Cathedral for a late service on Monday night after answering calls from youngsters phoning the NORAD Santa Tracker.
The president most likely would have been attending Christmas services at church near his estate in Palm Beach, Florida, but he scrapped plans to head to Florida for the holidays after parts of the government shut down indefinitely.
But Trump put business on pause as he and Melania joined in singing President Christmas hymns like ‘O Come, All Ye Faithful at the cathedral that bills the Christmas Eve Holy Eucharist as ‘one of the most beautiful services of the year’.
The Trumps sat in the front pew of the National Cathedral.
He appeared to be intently watching the procession for the service as it walked by him and was pictured joyously singing alongside his wife.
The mass was underway around 10pm, after the president may have ruined Christmas for one seven-year-old boy calling into the NORAD Santa Tracker.
‘Are you still a believer in Santa?’ Trump asked a caller named Coleman according to pool reports. ‘Because at seven it’s marginal, right?’
Trump appeared to try to keep thing light as he sat beside his wife in front of a roaring fireplace beneath a portrait of former President Abraham Lincoln.
