Police and other emergency services in Pennsylvania are responding to an active shooter at the Tree of Life Congregation Synagogue in Pittsburgh, officials say. Only few details are available.

The incident began just before 10 a.m. ET on Saturday when officers were called to reports of a shooting at the synagogue, which is located at 5898 Wilkins Avenue. The gunman opened fire at responding police officers.

Witnesses who called 911 said the gunman walked into the synagogue and opened fire, but it’s unknown if anyone has been injured. A number of people remain inside the building and officers are trying to evacuate them.

The shooter is still inside.

Police in Pittsburgh responded Saturday morning to an active shooting situation at the Tree of Life synagogue in the neighborhood of Squirrel Hill, KDKA reports. At least eight people are confirmed dead, according to the station.

The shooter has surrendered, KDKA reports.

Shooter ID’ed as Robert Bowers.

People have already grabbed his Gab account after his name was heard over police scanner.

According to the account, he’s a neo-Nazi who hated Jews, hated Trump and thought he was a globalist.
