In a speech earlier this week, President Trump said, “It’s time we had proper border security. We’re the laughingstock of the world. We have the worst immigration laws anywhere in the world.” While nearly half of voters agree with the president’s statement, they’re not convinced that shutting down the government until Congress passes immigration reform that includes a wall along the border is the way to go.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that nearly half (48%) of all U.S. Likely Voters agree with Trump’s statement comparing U.S. immigration laws to those around the world, but nearly as many (44%) disagree. It’s important to note the question did not mention who made the statement.
