A man has detonated a homemade bomb outside the US embassy in Beijing, China.
The US state department confirmed an explosion took place at around 1pm local time today.
It added only the bomber had been injured in the incident.
Police confirmed the explosion was caused by a small homemade device wielded by a 26-year-old man identified only by his surname, Jiang.
He’s from the city of Tongliao in the Chinese region of Inner Mongolia. Police said the explosive device was made from fireworks and the man had been injured on the hand.
An eyewitness said a man had tried to throw an explosive into the embassy compound but it exploded prematurely, according to Radio Free Asia.
