The anti-borders activists camped outside a federal government office in Portland may detest President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, but they’ve adopted a major one — building a border wall.

Since June, activists in the so-called Occupy ICE protest group have been constructing a tent city across the street from the Portland field office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The camp has become a base of operations for protesters who’ve managed to force the office to shut down on multiple occasions.

The protest began in response to the Trump administration’s policy of separating illegal immigrant families while prosecuting adults for unlawful entry. It has since morphed into a broader demonstration against the U.S. immigration system in general, with protesters advocating for open borders and the dismantling of ICE, the government’s main immigration law enforcement agency.
