President Donald Trump welcomed Allen Q. Jones, a 94-year-old World War II veteran, to the stage during his Tuesday speech at the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States National Convention.
When Jones reached the stage, he went to the podium and said being there was one of the highlights of his life.
“This is one of the highlights of this 94-year-old man,” Jones said.
Jones continued on to tell the crowd about his family’s service and sacrifice to the country during World War II.
“I had four brothers serve in World War II. My oldest brother was lost off the coast of Italy. Many times I just wish that he could come back to the land of the free and the home of the brave again,” Jones said. “I’ve given to the Veterans of Foreign Wars 70 years of my life.”
