Acosta keeps on digging.
Via Daily Mail:
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders has said that CNN ‘disrespected’ President Donald Trump while responding to the news network’s claim that the administration pulled the plug on an interview with National Security Advisor John Bolton.
Bolton was scheduled to appear on CNN’s State of the Union with Jake Tapper on Sunday, but Tapper in a tweet claimed the White House killed the interview after it was ‘locked in’.
‘Then the president attacked CNN during his UK presser, and our WH correspondent tried to ask a question,’ Tapper wrote in a tweet. ‘We are told Amb. Bolton remains fully prepared to do the interview but the White House has canceled it.’
Tapper was referring to Trump’s dismissal of CNN correspondent Jim Acosta at a Friday joint press conference with British Prime Minister Theresa May.
Sanders responded to Tapper: ‘Actually a @CNN reporter disrespected @POTUS & PM May during their press conf. Instead of rewarding bad behavior, we decided to reprioritize the TV appearances for administration officials.’
The incident that sparked the latest round of feuding between Trump and CNN occurred at Chequers, the prime minister’s country home outside of London.
Responding to a question from NBC’s Kristen Welker, who asked if he was aiding Russia by undermining NATO, Trump remarked that her network was ‘possibly worse than CNN!’
Later, as Trump looked across a crowd of journalists with raised hands, deciding who to call on next, Acosta made loudly demanded a chance to participate in the press conference as compensation for the president’s attack on his employer’s honor.
‘Mr. President, since you attacked CNN, can I ask you a question?’ he boomed, loud enough for microphones 10 yards away to pick up.
“No, no. John Roberts, go ahead. … CNN is fake news! I don’t take questions from CNN,’ Trump lectured.
Acosta continued the argument: ‘Well, sir, if you’re going to call us fake news you should take a question.’
