Newly revealed information about the background of Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calls into question claims that she has made about where she grew up. She has regularly claimed to be someone who had a hard life growing up in the Bronx.
The Daily Mail reports:
Though Ocasio-Cortez, 28, was born in and currently lives in the Bronx, county land records show her late father Sergio Cortez-Roman bought a quaint three-bedroom in Yorktown Heights, New York in 1991, when she was about two.
The Mail notes that the newly revealed information is in apparent contradiction with Ocasio-Cortez’s biography on her campaign page, which says:
