President Donald Trump will come to Great Falls on July 5 to campaign for Republican candidates in the Nov. 6 midterm elections, with news about his visit posted at https://www.donaldjtrump.com/.

The event will be 4 p.m. Thursday at the Four Seasons Arena at Montana ExpoPark, 400 3rd Street NW, and people are asked to RSVP for free tickets. Doors open at 1 p.m.

Trump’s campaign told the Associated Press that the president will speak about tax cuts, illegal immigration and other topics at the rally at 4 p.m. Thursday at Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls.

“The President will also remind Montanans of the importance of electing more Republicans to the Senate this fall to keep his America First policies and the momentum of our booming economy going strong,” Michael Glassner said, the chief operating officer for the Trump campaign.

Great Falls officials were alerted recently about a potential visit by the president and local law enforcement planned to meet with federal officials soon to learn more.

It was known that the president would be coming to Montana to stump for GOP candidates, but officials would not confirm where. The posting at donaldjtrump.com gives details about the visit plus information as to how people can attend.

Attendees are warned on the website of no homemade signs and banners. Also, professional cameras with a detachable lens, tripods, monopods, selfie sticks, back packs or large bags will not be allowed into the arena.

Democratic Sen. Jon Tester is seeking a third term and is running against Republican candidate Matt Rosendale, who now serves as state auditor, and Green Party candidate Steve Kelly and Libertarian Rick Breckenridge.

Great Falls is about 80 miles from Tester’s Big Sandy farm.

But Tester will not be in Great Falls on Thursday when the president arrives. He will be in Billings discussing impacts of tariffs recently imposed by Trump on the state’s economy with agriculture producers and small businesses.

The Senate just approved a farm bill, as well.

“Given the state of what is going on with tariffs and the Senate just past a farm bill, Jon’s priority is to hear from ag producers and small businesses impacted …” said Marnee Banks, his communication’s director.

In the House race, GOP Rep. Greg Gianforte is seeking re-election to the state’s lone open House seat after filling out. He’s up against Democrat Kathleen Williams, a former state lawmaker, Green Party candidate Doug Campbell and Libertarian Elinor Swanson.
