In a hearing on Capitol Hill Monday, Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) questioned Inspector General Michael Horowitz about Comey’s handling of the Clinton probe, and the IG told Cornyn that the ousted FBI Director did operate with an eye towards his job security — in the event of Clinton winning the 2016 election.

“I think that was a concern we had, certainly, where it’s even clearer in that October time period,” Horowitz said. “Because we have testimony that indicated that when he explained through his chief of the staff why he was going to do what he did on October 28, he was concerned about his survivability,” Horowitz said.
