Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was accused of groping a female reporter in 2000 and allegedly apologized, according to an editorial in an edition of a local British Columbia paper.
In a 2000 edition of the Creston Valley Advance, Trudeau was accused of “inappropriately handling” a reporter who was on assignment at the time. The editorial is tiled “Open Eyes” and criticizes Trudeau’s apology for allegedly groping the woman, saying he should have known better as the son of former Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau.
After the incident Trudeau reportedly apologized to the reporter and said he wouldn’t have “been so forward” if he knew she was working for a “national paper.”
“I’m sorry. If I had known you were reporting for a national paper, I would never have been so forward,” Trudeau allegedly told the young woman, according to the editorial.
