A shooting occurred at a middle school in Noblesville, Ind., with reports of shots fired and one injury Friday.

CNN reported on-air that one person is injured, yet it is unclear if that same person was shot. The school is reportedly on lockdown.

The suspect and total number of injured remains unknown, as well as whether or not there were students involved.

Noblesville, Ind., is about 30 miles northeast of Indianapolis.

Update:

There appear to be two victims, a 13-year-old girl and a teacher who have been wounded. Suspect also a student has been captured. Early reports suggest that the teacher, Mr. Seaman, tackled the suspect.

Update:

Locals in the area are identifying the shooter as student David Moore and the teacher who stopped him as Mr. Seaman. This has not been confirmed by the police as yet. One other student also has a fractured ankle, so three injured in the incident.

Dan Spehler shared a firsthand account from a seventh grader who was in the Noblesville West Middle School at the time of the shooting.

The seventh grader said a student entered a science classroom and shot at someone. The science teacher bravely tacked the gunman and swatted the gun away from him, possibly saving others from getting injured. The student didn’t say whether the teacher was injured.

“I literally just spoke with a seventh grader who was in the room where this happened. Her mom came to pick her up this morning. She confirmed what I heard from another person who lives nearby that this was in a science classroom and that a science teacher may have been the one to literally tackle this kid and swat the gun away from him.

Update:

This is a picture of the seventh-grade science teacher who reportedly stopped the shooter. The alleged shooter’s social media account seems to indicate that he thought Seaman was a good teacher.

Update:

Good news, the hero teacher, although, hit three times, is in good condition, according to his mother. He’s had surgery and the mother asks for prayers for him. REport suggest two handguns were used.

A 2007 Mahomet-Seymour graduate has been hospitalized after a shooting at Noblesville (Ind.) West Middle School this morning.

Jason Seaman, a seventh-grade science teacher and coach, is undergoing surgery at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, according to a public post by his mother Kristi Seaman. Seaman added that her son had been “hit three times” but she had been told he was in “good condition.”

“He’s a amazing kid,” said district superintendent Lindsey Hall. “We’re all in a state of shock.”

Seaman played multiple sports at Mahomet-Seymour. In 2007, he was named News-Gazette Athlete of the Year.
