Former Vice President Joe Biden said he’s not ruling out a 2020 U.S. presidential bid against Donald Trump and will likely come to a decision by the end of the year.

Speaking with MSNBC Sunday, the Delaware Democrat said he’s still analyzing what other potential challengers the party may produce to face Trump in 2020. Biden, 75, said he’ll have an answer to whether or not he’s doing to run “by the end of this year.”

“I’ve been honest about this,” Biden told MSNBC host Rev. Al Sharpton. “If the Lord almighty, Al, came down and said, ‘the nomination is yours now, you have to accept it now,’ I would not.”

Biden noted that several polls this year have shown him with a wide lead over any other potential challenger to a Trump re-election. A Harvard CAPS/Harris poll in January showed Biden with a double-digit lead over any other Democratic potential candidates. The next closest candidate was Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders. But Biden said such polls “don’t mean a thing until you’re in the green.”
