Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi earned two Pinocchios from The Washington Post Tuesday, for comments she made about President Donald Trump’s tax law.
“Eighty-six million middle-class families will see a tax increase while they advertise it as a middle-class bill,” Pelosi claimed at a town hall in California on April 4, WaPo reported.
“Pelosi has been using this line for months and we have never gotten around to fact-checking it,” Glenn Kessler, a reporter for WaPo’s “Fact Checker” blog, wrote in an analysis. “But a reader saw this news report and wondered if it could possibly be true, given other news reports saying most Americans are getting some kind of tax cut.”
“In 2018, most U.S. taxpayers can expect some kind of tax cut, according to just about every analysis,” Kessler wrote.
