A DEADLY flesh-eating “jihadi disease” is tearing through Iraq and Syria – because ISIS fanatics are leaving festering corpses in the streets.
Over a thousand civilians are thought to have been struck down by the deadly bug, which can make rotten flesh drop off the bone.
Iranian doctor Nasser Dehghani said the spread is linked to living conditions – made worse by the body-dumping policy.
He told Sputnik: “Its spread is tightly connected to the living conditions and when they worsen drastically, for example as the result of war, an epidemic can break out, like what happened in Syria and Iraq.”
The deadly bug is spread by a parasite which is thought to thrive in Syria as a result of the country’s healthcare system collapsing.
Leishmaniasis is thought to kill 30,000 people each year, according to the World Health Organization.
