Very doubtful he actually has an ‘automatic’ weapon. Reports were he was dressed in black with body armor.
YOUNTVILLE, Calif. (KTVU) – Three people were taken as hostages and shots were fired at the Veterans Home of California in Yountville — the largest in the United States — near the dining hall Friday morning, prompting a swarm of police activity.
Police said at least 15 to 20 shots were fired in Building G, starting about 10:30 a.m. It was not immediately clear if there were any injuries and there was little information about the shooter.
FBI is sending a SWAT team to negotiate with the shooter and agents are already at the scene. As KTVU’s Mark Ibanez arrived at the scene he was told by SWAT to stay behind something, “because this guy has an automatic weapon.”
Update:
The suspect is believed to have been a member of The Pathway Home program for military veterans with emotional trauma. Early reports said the man, 36 years old, had been discharged from the treatment program two weeks ago.
He was reported holed up Friday in Pathway’s Madison Building on the Vets Home grounds.
The initial report came in at 10:20, prompting dozens law enforcement officers from multiple agencies to set up a perimeter at the Veterans Home.
A man, dressed in black and wearing body armor, was reportedly armed with an automatic weapon. Three people were initially reported taken hostage, but by 11:40 a.m. the number was reported as two.
Update:
Police gave an update, saying the situation is still ongoing and has not yet been resolved, after over 6 hours.

Update:
News just breaking now that they found he killed the hostages and himself.
