Two victims were shot at a Central Michigan University residence hall in Mt. Pleasant this morning and the gunman remains at large, according to authorities.

Michigan State Police confirm two people have been shot.

According to the City of Mt. Pleasant Twitter account, the suspect is a black male and considered armed and dangerous.

The shooting happened near the 4th floor of Campbell Hall, a co-ed residence building. Classes are canceled and students have been told to shelter in place and avoid the area.

Two people were fatally shot when a gunman opened fire inside a Michigan university building early Friday morning, police said.

Central Michigan University police confirmed to Fox News the two people were killed when the gunman opened fire inside Campbell Hall on campus. No other injuries were reported and the suspect is still at large and considered “armed and dangerous.”

“The deceased are not students and police believe the situation started from a domestic situation,” police said in a tweet.

Officials said they are searching for a 19-year-old black man who is approximately 5 foot 9 inches tall. He is wearing yellow-colored jeans, a blue hoodie with a weapon tucked in his belt.

Local media identified the suspect as James Eric Davis, Jr.
