Text messages sent by FBI agents reveal that former deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe knew about new emails in the Hillary Clinton email investigation for at least a month before informing Congress or FBI Director James Comey.

The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that messages obtained by the newspaper reveal that McCabe was informed about thousands of new emails pertaining to Clinton’s private email server used at the State Department on or before September 28, a month before Comey informed Congress about the emails on Oct. 28.

McCabe’s apparent inaction on the emails, which were found on the laptop of disgraced New York Rep. Anthony Weiner (D) during his sex crimes investigation, is the subject of a FBI inspector general investigation, which seeks to understand if McCabe withheld the information from the public for political reasons.
