Tucker Carlson said it’s dumb, dishonest and poisonous for some critics to claim President Donald Trump’s immigration proposal is racist.
Trump’s proposal would offer a path to citizenship for 1.8 million so-called “DREAMers,” and call for $25 billion in funding for a border wall and security. It also calls for cracking down on chain migration and the diversity visa lottery program.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) slammed Trump’s immigration framework, calling it part of a “campaign to make America white again.”
The ACLU, meanwhile, said “the only community that benefits from this supposed generosity are white supremacists.”[…]
He pointed out that almost none of the 1.8 million DREAMers who would receive amnesty under the proposal are white. He also noted that the plan keeps chain migration in place until the backlog is exhausted, which would admit hundreds of thousands of immigrants from Mexico, Indian, Vietnam, Bangladesh and other countries to the U.S.
“A white nationalist plot? In the history of dumb and dishonest Washington talking points, that might be the dumbest and most dishonest of all,” Carlson said. “And it’s poisonous too. It makes people hate each other, and it further divides this country. And we do not need more of that.”
