What are the odds the robber would pick a legal permit hold in Chicago?
Via Chicago Tribune:
A concealed carry license holder told police he fatally shot a man who tried to rob him at gunpoint Thursday night in a South Side business parking lot, according to authorities.
The shooting happened about 8 p.m. in a parking lot shared by Target and Fifth Third Bank in the 1900 block of West 33rd Street in McKinley Park, police said.
Officers found a 21-year-old man lying on the ground after responding to a call of a person shot, according to preliminary information from a source. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital with gunshot wounds to the back and chest and pronounced dead, police said.
Witnesses told police a silver Nissan fled the scene after shots were fired, the source said. Officers stopped a car matching that description as it returned to the scene in the 3300 block of South Damen Avenue, according to the source.
Two weapons — a semi-automatic gun and a revolver — were found in the car with expended shell casings.
The driver of the Nissan, 27, told police a man walked up to his car in the parking lot and tried to rob him at gunpoint. He said he fired his gun — the semi-automatic — after a struggle in the car.
He said he was returning to the scene to talk with officers. The man was taken into custody.
