Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake has indicated he will support the Republican tax-cut bill, seemingly assuring the measure will pass.
Flake tweeted his support for the bill, noting that it would not include an $85 billion provision for the way business expenses are handled. It was not immediately clear whether the party had modified the bill in a way intended to address Flake’s concerns that it would add at least $1 trillion to the national debt.
Flake’s belated backing may have come after Republicans had already secured 50 GOP votes. That would be enough to pass the bill with Vice President Mike Pence adding the last needed vote.
