The Trump administration is being sued by a gun control group founded by former Rep. Gabby Giffords for documents related to the National Rifle Association’s influence over the president’s gun views.

The Arizona Democrat’s organization, the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for failing to comply with Freedom of Information Act requests to turn over the administration’s correspondence with the NRA, according to the Huffington Post.

The organization was specifically looking for records concerning Trump administration policies on concealed carry reciprocity, gun silencers, bump stocks and assault weapon exports.

Giffords’ group also hoped to find evidence of improper lobbying by Donald Trump Jr., President Trump’s eldest son, on behalf of gun manufacturing companies as well as contact between gun lobbying groups and senior administration officials after the Las Vegas mass shooting last month. The organization was seeking any proof that the NRA attempted to review bump stock regulations in coordination with the ATF.

The lawsuit, obtained by the Huffington Post, accused the Trump administration of following the NRA in “lockstep” following recent shootings and sought evidence that pro-gun lobbyists had influenced the ATF in pursuing “dangerous policies and to oppose common sense gun-violence-prevention measures.”
