Former President Barack Obama celebrated a big night for Democrats with a tweet on Wednesday morning, writing, “This is what happens when the people vote.”
Obama campaigned on behalf of Northam and Murphy in Virginia and New Jersey, as both men pulled off lopsided victories for Democrats hungry for victories after a disastrous 2016 cycle.
“This is what happens when the people vote,” he wrote. “Congrats @RalphNortham and @PhilMurphyNJ. And congratulations to all the victors in state legislative, county and mayors’ races. Every office in a democracy counts!”
