Problems with this story. There are few presidents who have ever done more to help Russia than Barack Obama. There’s no doubt that they didn’t like Hillary Clinton and blamed her for ‘interfering’ in Ukraine and in Putin’s election. But not liking her does not translate to collusion with Trump, and no evidence of collusion has been found despite desperate attempts.
Indeed, this report, even if true, agains shows that the concern wasn’t electing Donald Trump per se, the purpose was to cast doubt on the electoral process and undermine the person elected, who they believed would be Hillary Clinton. Contrary to what the Obama administration claimed. And this was supposedly one of their central reasons to think they were interfering to elect Trump.
So what that really means is that the people who have been pushing the ‘Russian conspiracy’ against Trump are actually doing Russia’s job for them and serving their purpose of casting doubt on the validity of the election.

Russia shot down reports that a think tank controlled by President Vladimir Putin plotted to sway the 2016 presidential election in favor of Donald Trump and shake voters confidence in the electoral system, it was reported Thursday.
A report from Reuters on Wednesday said the Moscow-based Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISS) had provided the framework and rationale for what US intelligence agents say was an effort by the Kremlin to interfere in the election.

Believing Clinton would win the election, the documents also revealed it would be better for Russia to end its pro-Trump propaganda and instead intensify its messaging about voter fraud to undermine the electoral process and cast doubt on Clinton’s legitimacy.
Russia has repeatedly denied the allegations it tried to tamper with the election.
The FBI and two congressional panels have investigations into Russia’s involvement.
