Via Free Beacon:

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) called Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign slogan “phony” when he was supposed to say it for a Clinton campaign ad.

Sanders ran against Clinton in the 2016 Democratic primaries, but supported Clinton during the general election in opposition to Donald Trump.

The new book Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign was released Tuesday, and claims that Clinton campaign staffers sent a script for the campaign ad to Sanders’ staffers, the Hill reports. At the end of the script, Sanders was supposed to say, “I’m with her,” but Sanders opposed the slogan.

“It’s so phony!” Sanders said. “I don’t want to say that.”

The full ad never aired on television, but smaller clips were used on the Internet. Questions had swirled within the Clinton campaign as to whether Sanders truly did support Clinton. The lengthy primary between the two was tense at times.
