Coach Staley and the Lady Gamecocks are a class act.

Now that history has been made with South Carolina capturing the program’s first women’s basketball national championship, one of the next steps in the celebratory process is an invitation to the White House.

Ever since Donald Trump became president, there’s been a divide in opinion amongst those in the sports world about the merits of attending a trip to the White House.

However, according to AP reporter Doug Feinberg, Dawn Staley made it loud and clear: if invited, the Gamecocks are not missing out on the opportunity.

Staley isn’t going to let politics get in the way of the championship tradition, especially for the program’s inaugural title team.

“I’ve got options now. Yeah, I’m going to the White House,” Staley told The Associated Press. “It’s what it stands for. It’s what national champions do. We’ll go to the White House.”
