Director Michael Moore on Friday warned Democrats that while the decision to pull the Republican ObamaCare repeal bill was worth celebrating, it wasn’t time “to gloat” but the opportunity “for the resistance to step forward.”
Republicans abandoned their effort to repeal ObamaCare Friday, when Trump and Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) agreed to pull the measure as it became clear they didn’t have the votes. Trump said it would make political sense to let ObamaCare fail and hang it on the Democrats.
Moore, in an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, said Democrats shouldn’t take Trump’s word as an empty threat, but get ready to fight back.
“This is not the time for the Democrats to gloat,” Moore said. “This is the time we have to now double down. Please understand that Trump is telling you the truth when he tells you that ObamaCare is going to explode or implode … they are going to actively make sure that that happens.”
Moore said that it was time for people to look to progressive leaders such as Bernie Sanders to push for the fixes to ObamaCare that are wanted by Trump supporters, “the working poor” and “working class.”
