The actress and activist Emma Watson had a few different ideas of where to meet up when I interviewed her for this month’s cover story. We discussed a cactus garden in Santa Barbara and a stroll down the West Side Highway in New York City. But the day after
Donald Trump unexpectedly won the presidential election in November, she had another idea: “Let’s spread a little bit of love!” In 2015, she got involved with the organization Books on the Underground, a London-based organization that secretly plants books on public transport for passersby to discover, and she wanted to continue the effort.
