Schools across the country are ready to do away with former First Lady Michelle Obama’s healthy lunch rules.
With President Donald Trump in office, school cafeteria workers are hoping to have the rules overturned, the Washington Examiner reports.
Nutrition was one of Obama’s main focuses while she was in the White House. But the standards that were put in place by the federal government did not go over well with students and schools. The School Nutrition Association has said studies show that fewer students are eating the lunches, leading to higher food waste and higher costs. If schools do decide to get rid of the program, then they face federal subsidy cuts.
