Donald Trump has slammed CNN for hosting ‘fake news’ after the channel reported that he would continue to work on NBC’s reboot of The New Celebrity Apprentice.

In an interview with the channel on Friday, his former campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, told CNN that he could work on the show in his spare time, likening it to Barack Obama playing golf.

But on Saturday Trump Tweeted ‘Reports by @CNN that I will be working on The Apprentice during my Presidency, even part time, are ridiculous & untrue – FAKE NEWS!’

‘I have NOTHING to do with The Apprentice except for fact that I conceived it with Mark [Burnett, co-creator of the show] & have a big stake in it’, he said. ‘Will devote ZERO TIME!’

In her interview with CNN, Conway said: ‘He’s a very transparent guy. Everyone can see what he’s doing, and the fact is that he is conferring with all types of experts who tell him what he can do and not do as President of the United States.

‘If this is one of the approved activities, then perhaps he will consider staying on [with The New Celebrity Apprentice].

‘Were we so concerned about the hours and hours and hours spent on the golf course of the current president? I mean presidents have a right to do things in their spare time, in their leisure time,’ she added.
