A hero cop has attempted to save a one-month-old baby who died while her mom was protesting against a police shooting.
Baltimore Major Richard Gibson was on patrol near where a protest was being held about 3pm on Saturday in the wake of the shooting of an man armed with two knives on Friday.
During the protest, which was attended by about 30 people, a group of people told Major Gibson a one-month-old girl had stopped breathing and was bleeding from the nose.
Gibson then rushed into the pizza shop and performed CPR on the youngster in a desperate attempt to bring her back to life.
The mother, who was one of the protesters, had taken her young daughter inside to feed her, police said in a statement.
A Facebook Live video shows paramedics rushing the baby out of the restaurant, and the distraught officer in the moments immediately after.
Gibson appeared to be holding back tears, and had blood on his mouth.
