dem-mailer

Dems allegedly have doubts about the mail service in Ohio.

Via Cleveland Com:

Cuyahoga County elections officials on Friday urged voters to be wary of postcards from the Ohio Democratic Party warning voters that they have not yet returned their ballots.

In many cases that warning is in error.

A spokeswoman for the Democratic Party said the errors are a result of ballots lagging in the mail.

The board offices have received hundreds of calls from people who received the postcards, even though they had returned their ballots, according to the elections board. A spokesman for the board said he received one himself about two weeks after he had returned his absentee ballot.

So don’t panic. Voters are encouraged to call their local elections board or check online to track the status of their ballots. Here’s some things to know.

By checking online with the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, voters can tell the status of their ballot applications.

The website shows if the elections board has received the request for an absentee ballot. If it has been processed, the site shows the date the ballot was mailed out to the voter.

The site could alert a voter if there is a problem. That could include a mistake by the voter on the application, a processing error at the elections board or a problem with U.S. mail. […]

The elections board referred questions about this mailing to the Ohio Democratic Party. Kirstin Alvanitakis, a party spokeswoman, said the problem was due to some ballots being in transit in the U.S. mail.

“The Ohio Democratic Party prepared a mailing to voters who had requested absentee ballots, but had not returned those ballots at the time of the mailing, according to our records. Because of a delay in mail service, some of those who received the mailing had in the meantime mailed back their ballots,” Alvanitakis said.

“Our mailing provides information for voters to empower themselves and confirm their absentee ballots have been accepted.” Alvanitakis said. “We’re encouraged to hear that voters are taking action to ensure their ballots will be counted in this critical election, and we’re glad that the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections is assisting these voters in a professional and timely manner.
