If you’re going to spend it, how about instruction in American laws and culture, including respect for women?

Refugees are desperately in need of American sports programs. At least, that’s what a federal officials intend to spend taxpayer money on.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement (OOR) informed governors’ offices of its intent to provide sports programs, mental health counseling and job placement services for refugees during a conference call Thursday.

On the quarterly call on refugee issues, participants were told the sports programs are necessary to help them acclimate to American culture. The cost of the sports programs has not yet been disclosed.

The conference call was held in conjunction with the Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) and the Department of Homeland Security’s United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
