The Jan. 29, 2015 email in question comes from David Catanese, the Senior Politics writer for U.S. News and World Report, written to Mara Lee, who works for the Clinton campaign.

Mara Lee then forwarded the reporter’s email to Marlon Marshall and Robby Mook, saying she would speak well of them to the reporter.

Marlon Marshall is the director of state campaigns and political engagement for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. From 2013 to 2015 he worked in the Obama White House, as deputy Director of the Office of Public Engagement. He left that job in the beginning of January, shortly before this email.

I contacted David Catanese the reporter who sent the email. He said he was unable to substantiate the allegations.

Marlon Marshall has not yet responded to my inquiry.
